2009-02-02

Taylor Paul had 1 goal and 1 assist in Sunday's game

Charleston lost both exhibition games to Space Coast this past weekend with scores of 4-6 and 3-7. The team played well at times and fought back in both games but could not pull out a win in the end.

The Wolverines put 4 goals on the scoreboard Saturday night but that was not enough as the Hurricanes had a strong 3rd period and won the game 4-6. Charleston goals were all even-strength goals and were scored by Chris Malm (assisted by Paul Rattenbury and Sterling Brown), Matt Lee (assisted by Will Terry and Josh Wall), Josh Wall (assisted by Matt Lee), and an unassisted goal by Will Terry. The Wolverines had 33 shots on Hurricanes goalie Andrew Dzikowich.  Brian Ruddy was in net for the Wolverines.  He faced 41 shots and saved 35 of those in 60 minutes of play.

Charleston returned to the ice Sunday morning and fell behind quickly to the Hurricanes 0-3 in the 1st period.  The Wolverines were held scoreless in the first two periods but scored 3 goals in the 3rd, including a short-handed goal scored by Taylor Paul (assisted by Chris Malm and Tyler Neary).  The other 2 Wolverine goals were scored by Alex Hegstrom (assisted by Jeff Tyner) and Sterling Brown (assisted by Taylor Paul and Spencer Morris). The Wolverines had only 23 shots on Hurricanes goalie Jay Arnold.  Roy Murphy was in net for the Wolverines.  He faced 46 shots and saved 39 of those in 60 minutes of play.  Final score of the game was 3-7.
