Squirts show improvement last 2 weekends2010-01-22
4-2-1 in the last 7 games as the squirts role into the 2nd half of the season.
The last 2 weeks have kept the squirt wolverines, parents and coaches busy. Last weekend the team went 1-1-1 against a very competitive Wilmington team. The game was tied at the end of regulation which led to a fun shootout. Highlighted by the goaltending of Coop and Pink we also saw some exciting goals by Hurricane Seth, dont call me a girl Augugsta. The parents and kids were not left much time to celebrate with a 6 a.m. game Sunday morning. Some gathered in the lobby for a few cordials, some more than others, peewees. We all should have followed the lead of Wild Bill Tripp and gone to bed after one. No worries up until this point the team is 2-0 before 7 am, so we just have to get them there. They kept the streak alive with a great win, we did lose the next game but left with a few new nicknames, Bam Bam Bunker and instead of Lance Romance, we saw another side of him on the weekend, KILLER,
After 2 good practices last week we were ready to go coming into the Golden Puck Tournament. I must say as a coach the first three games were some of the most intense and well played all year. We got contributions from all the players and I believe we had some first time point getters. Our work ethic showed on the scoreboard both offensively and defensively. If we can continue to play as a team and work together we will beat teams like Jacksonville in future games. Congratulations to all the players on a very good weekend. Thank you to all the parents for the time you spend at the arena, your kids do appreciate it and may show it more later on.
